Client: CSIRO ON Program
Summary: CSIRO’s ON Program is a free Australian science and technology accelerator for researchers. I collaborated with their marketing team to create a visual identity, style guide and digital applications for a new online pilot program called Project Indi. This new program is designed exclusively to fast-track individual researchers, helping them develop an entrepreneurial mindset and the necessary skills and experience to commercialise innovation and reach impact.
The visual identity needed to embody the ON brand, complement the existing programs and be identifiable as a new offer. I achieved this with my distinctive science-themed velocity concept, aimed to encourage individual researchers to ‘run your own race’. Inspired by the speed lines left behind by superhero Flash Gordon, the blurred light trails in the hero image provide a visual link to the direction and acceleration provided by the program.
I have also supported the events team, creating marketing materials and providing copywriting and brand advice for other ON programs.

Workplace: eHealth Queensland
Service: Visual Identity / Art Direction / Illustration / Icon Design / Copywriting
Client: Queensland Health
Summary: The Cyber Security Group (CSG) at eHealth Queensland identified an increased risk of cyber crime with the Commonwealth Games. To mitigate these risks CSG created an internal campaign strategy to educate staff and boost cyber security awareness. The campaign aimed to reach over 100,000 Queensland Health staff from office workers and senior executives to doctors, chefs and gardeners.
To avoid the repetitive clichés often seen in cyber security campaigns, I integrated the Games into the creative. I developed tailored messages using wordplay to link sporting events with identified cyber threats and paired these with stylised illustrations of competing athletes. The client was satisfied and the creative concepts were collated into a toolkit to create an engaging and memorable campaign.

Workplace: M-Four Design Studio
Service: Brand Identity / Art Direction / Advertising / Social Media
Client: Manchester City Council
Summary: Manchester was identified as having one of the worst social care services in the UK, so Manchester City Council redeveloped their service in phases by listening to critical feedback and improving the issues. This process included the generation of a recruitment campaign to attract competent and leading social workers from outside of Manchester to build a better workforce.
With the aim to inspire and motivate the audience to join the service, I developed the campaign theme Become Manchester’s Best and integrated it with compelling photography and moving case studies of Manchester’s leading social worker’s. This was used to produce effective advertising, event collateral and learning materials.

Client: Manchester City Council
Summary: The Manchester City Council Awards for Excellence is a significant internal event held annually at the historic Manchester Town Hall. It recognises and celebrates the achievements of council employees with a drinks reception, gala dinner, entertainment and awards ceremony.
This event required a new identity featuring a simple and contemporary mark, so I designed a stylised geometric badge with a bold cut-out of the event title. It also needed to be vivid, modern and versatile, but still feel prestigious so I floated the mark on 4 colour variations of a blurred, tonal background to emulate a ceremony light show. I also used characteristics of the badge shape as design elements to strengthen the identity.

Client: Core Cities UK
Summary: Core Cities UK is a collaborative advocacy group that is governed by a cabinet of elected leaders from 10 UK cities outside Greater London. Each city is responsible for an area of expertise and collectively they provide a united voice to deliver positive change and address important issues.
To attract investment from the Government, they required a professional, impressive prospectus that proposed a new approach to public spending. To do this I created a clean, simple layout with a sophisticated colour palette, engaging full page images and effective infographics. I also devised a clever die-cut cover concept that depicts the document title Unlocking the Power of Place. This design was well received by the client, which resulted in future work for the studio.

Client: Central Library
Summary: Manchester's Central Library is an iconic grade II listed building that opened in 1934. It closed in 2010 for a £40m refurbishment and after 4 years it was transformed into a modern, inclusive space that combined historic features with innovative design. As part of the rebrand, M-Four designed a new identity that showcased and complimented the rejuvenated library.
As the lead Creative Artworker, I used the brand guidelines and established creative to generate, maintain and oversee a wide variety of collateral. All materials were made print-ready, ensuring that finishes and spot colours were set-up correctly. Working under the guidance of the Senior Graphic Designer I also provided creative solutions to various bespoke items required by the client.

Client: Manchester City Council
Summary: Manchester City Council have community funds available to help groups put on events and activities that benefit people in their local neighbourhood. They required a striking, contemporary identity to define this initiative and make it appealing to potential applicants.
I started by designing a simple and versatile combination mark and selecting three primary identity colours. To give it more depth and personality I developed an accompanying illustration style and created four characters depicting the application categories, plus a stylised neighbourhood setting. I used these elements to produce three print/online forms that provided a look and feel for all future materials.

Client: Manchester City Council
Summary: The My Future programme provides young people aged 16 to 24 with a three-month paid work placement at a Manchester business, giving them the tools they need for future employment. In order for this programme to stand out and be successful, Manchester City Council required an identity developed that would entice both young people and businesses to sign up.
To do this I proposed strong imagery of ambitious young people looking forward into a bright colour which represented their future and reinforced this with supporting copy tailored to target both audiences. I presented this concept with a look and feel that showed how the project could work across print materials, advertising and event collateral. The client was happy with the direction and signed it off for production.

Client: Manchester City Council
Summary: An excellent response to consultation allowed Manchester City Council to learn what parks in Manchester meant to residents and what they thought could be improved. From this information, a 10 year strategy was devised to guide future investment and preservation.
When typesetting this strategy I used the Creative Director's design concepts to create a clear and accessible layout. I also set-up style sheets, carefully integrated quotes and images, and created an infographic style that effectively visualised statistics for the reader.

Summary: To ensure that Manchester city centre continued its role as a major economic and cultural asset, a strategic plan was formulated to further develop infrastructure, outline key priorities for neighbourhoods and provide a vision to manage economic and population growth.
As this strategic plan was quite substantial, I worked with a colleague to typeset the document using the concept and layout grid created by the Senior Graphic Designer. I was also required to generate a suite of infographics, set-up a front cover emboss and make the artwork print-ready.
