My name is Nathan Glover and I am a Senior Graphic Designer based in Brisbane, Australia. I specialise in branding, advertising, illustration and corporate design.
I’m currently working full-time as a freelancer and I’m accepting new design projects and short contracts. If you’re interested in working together, I’d love to hear from you.
I’ll happily provide a free no-obligation quote for any project, big or small and answer any questions you may have about my services.
I was raised in Canberra, Australia and started my career with a BA Graphic Design degree from the University of Canberra. To get a foot in the ever-ellusive industry door I took a job artworking transport maps and timetables which advanced my technical skills and gave me enough experience to move on and secure a junior graphic designer position. Here I was mentored and trained in prepress and digital printing, I also gained valuable experience in brand identity, outdoor media and client liaison.
Seeking further career progression, I accepted a role as an in-house graphic designer at Early Childhood Australia (ECA), a leading non-for-profit advocacy organisation. It wasn’t long before I established myself as the lead designer, taking on a more senior role within the publishing studio. I really enjoyed this role as I was able to produce publications and materials that would make a difference to future generations.
My biggest interest outside design is music and during this time I played in and toured with 2 bands. This naturally led to many freelance opportunities designing band logos, albums, gig posters and merch. I also provided free design services for a lot of charity gigs, including Megafauna Festival which I helped organise for 2 years.
In 2013, I decided to leave and relocate to the UK with my partner. We made Manchester our new home for the next 5 years, embracing northern culture and enjoying the perks of a European lifestyle. I spent most of my free time travelling around Europe, enjoying amazing food and drink, going to gigs and attending large music festivals. After attending the first UK Tech-Fest, I was introduced to the organiser who commissioned me to design the festival’s line-up t-shirt. I am still designing these every year, it’s very rewarding seeing people wearing my designs all around Europe.
For the first year in Manchester I freelanced as a creative artworker for local recruitment companies, which led to an ongoing freelance position at M-Four Design Studio, Manchester City Council. During this time I worked diligently, integrated into the studio and focused on producing high-quality work. In return I was offered a full-time position, which I accepted.
This job was challenging, it really pushed me to enhance my skills and learn from my senior colleagues. Consequently I improved my creative work, broadened my capabilities and established myself as a senior creative artworker. It was beneficial being able to work on such varied and important projects and see them displayed all over the city. I really enjoyed being a part of an eccentric, tight and talented team, where there was never a dull moment.
In December 2016 we made the difficult decision to leave the UK and relocate back to Canberra, AUS. I spent the first few months of 2017 reconnecting with family and friends, managing our international move and taking some time to do some travel. Recently my partner secured a great full-time job up in Brisbane so we decided to leave Canberra and make Brisbane our new home. During this very busy period I was able to reconnect with some clients and do some freelance design work in between managing the interstate move and setting into our new home town.
Now that I’m active in Brisbane, I’m looking forward to establishing myself as a valuable asset to a company, securing a challenging and rewarding full-time position where I can become a part of a great team and use my extensive skills and experience to produce high-quality work. I’m also available for short contracts and freelance work.
